Credit Score Questions

Q. What credit score do I need for an American Express Platinum card?  Thanks,
Patrick
A. Unfortunately you have to contact American Express directly to find out what their score requirements are.  FICO is the most common score, but there are others such as the Vantage Score and the CreditXpert Score.  American Express may also advise you what credit score range is necessary as well as the other factors their underwriting department requires to get their credit card.

Q. How can I obtain just my credit score? Diane.
A. Your credit score is based on your credit report, and to my knowledge cannot be obtained without getting your credit report.

What is a credit score?
A credit score is a number that predicts your credit risk and the probability that you may default on a credit obligation. Your credit score is normally calculated on factors in your credit report.  Many lenders these days use your credit score as a way of selecting consumers who are likely to pay their debts on time.
